The local Branch was formed in 2002 when Fr Brownsell asked a group of mothers if they could see their way to forming a Mother's Union branch within the church, this the did by selecting the committee members from the congregation.
The committee looked into ways that the mothers of the church could play an active role in ensuring that the ethos and family values of the church can be enhanced and actively enriched the lives of the families that support the church.
One of the earliest ideas that was put forward was the Good Friday fish supper. – This came about as a member of the church collected from 10 upstanding lay members who considered as the pillar of the church the sum of £10 from each of the selected lay people; explaining to them the purposes and significant of the fish supper, their names was not revealed, this money was then given to the newly formed committee. However the newly formed committee donated the £100 to the church and each member of the newly formed mother's union decided to match the donation with their own gifts. Needless to say that the first fish supper was a complete success and in September of that year the first Inaugural service took place.
It is now over 10 years since the formation of the local Mother's union and in that time, it has established itself as one of the foundation units of All Saints Notting Hill. With its fund raising events, which included Valentine Day, fashion show dances, children seaside outings and many other family events. Over this period, we have lost many of the original founding members including the first leader the co-chair and the treasurer.
